At least one person has mentioned they have had success using older 5.11 kernels.
#Nvidia revert to previous driver update
There is a proposed update to 5.13 kernel which will make changes to the amdgpu driver, but I do not know when that kernel update will be released.
#Nvidia revert to previous driver driver
Then you would not have to worry about installing the Nvidia driver manually. In addition I also have a black screen crash, and it is likely due to this new Nvidia driver.Given how many topics I have now seen where others with 4000 series Ryzens and AMD graphics (the graphics currently running on your computer) who have had issues with suspension and the computer not resuming from suspend when using the 5.13.0-21 kernel, I am going to suggest that you try a different kernel to see if that clears the suspension problem you noticed. Tue 11:27 amI updated NVidia driver via Update Manager yesterday.īut now I notice the fan is always running high and fan exhaust air is warm. I want to emphasize Lady Fitzgerald's advice to make sure to take a Timeshift snapshot before installing a new Nvidia driver so you always have the option of reverting back to an older driver even if an older driver is not available in Driver Manager (which can happen). So it seems you have now succeeded in reverting to an older driver which was your original topic title. (I do not know the critical range for yours, but we could probably check for it.) Those critical temperatures were in the 100C range. I have helped troubleshoot issues for people where the logs clearly stated the temperature reached critical levels and the computer shut down. Your system will shut down before it gets too hot. While your system may run hotter with the newer-than-460 driver, ~64C is not even close to being too hot, especially for a Ryzen 7. It is also possible you could feel the difference in the exhaust air temperature. The temperatures, however, were different so it is possible the sound might be different because of the slightly higher exhaust air temperatures. As I pointed out earlier in this topic, the fan speeds listed were exactly the same for both the nouveau driver and the newer-than-460 Nvidia driver. In fact, it behaves like Nouveau because I was not able to suspend LM 20.1,Īnd the fan noise and activity is roughly about similar to Nouveau.Fan noise does not equal fan speed. It does not run as hot, for the same applications.
Thu 3:31 pmI installed Nvidia 460 (see previous screenshot).
